Role Description: Reports to the Director of Content Protection, EMEA
ROLE DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Global Content Protection strategy, supporting the protection of members’ content through the identification and disruption of high-impact illicit operations.
- Conduct Internet investigations in collaboration with regional Content Protection teams, developing and executing investigative strategies to identify entities involved in the unauthorized distribution of copyrighted content.
- Support criminal referral strategies in partnership with the Content Protection Legal, Enforcement & Operations, Government Affairs, Policy, and Communications teams.
- Research, analyze, and present comprehensive reports (both orally and in writing) on online piracy trends, including IPTV networks, streaming services, cyberlockers, linking sites, and other forms of digital content infringement, for management, member companies, legal teams, and external stakeholders, including law enforcement.
- Depending on the profile of the successful candidate, lead on or provide technical and investigative support to internal teams and external partners on Internet investigations, online piracy services, and the broader technical ecosystem of digital content infringement.
- Monitor emerging piracy trends, technologies, and techniques to support proactive content protection initiatives.
- Depending on the profile of the successful candidate, provide guidance and support to peers within the team.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Technical skills
You have:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent) or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience investigating Internet-based services, including IPTV networks, illicit streaming devices (ISDs), social media streams, web-based streaming sites, cyberlockers, linking sites, and other online piracy services.
- Strong Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) skills.
- Working knowledge of basic investigative tools such as WHOIS, reverse DNS lookups, traceroute, and packet capture analysis.
- A good understanding of TCP/IP, Internet routing, HTTP(S), DNS, and the technical infrastructure of the Internet.
- Knowledge of the relationships between ISPs, domain names, IP addresses, hosting providers, WHOIS data, and Internet governance.
- A strong understanding of the film, television, streaming, and broader audiovisual ecosystem, including anti-piracy technologies and copyright infringement issues.
- Experience in IT security or additional specialized internet investigations field (e.g. crytpo) is a plus.
- You are proficient with Microsoft Office, and technical visualization and investigative tools such as Microsoft Visio and Maltego.
You are able to:
- Produce clear, concise, and well-structured correspondence, investigative reports, and technical documentation – in English.
- Present complex technical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Communicate confidently with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
